Summary/Abstract: The volume Carte regală de bucate (The Royal Cookbook) is the object of our investigation from a syntactic-pragmatic perspective. The inventory of recipes highlighted the structural patterns of the incident metatext as a language unit. The focal interest of this paper is to inventory the forms of encoding syntactic subjectivity. The analysis of the language facts led to the confirmation of the updated Romanian linguistic theory referring to the text as a syntactic-pragmatic unit and to the syntactic modus, and occasioned necessary dissociations between the different language levels at which the phenomenon of modality appears.
