Summary/Abstract: The All-Bulgarian Union “Otec Paisii” (founded at the end of 1927) is an organization of Bulgarian intellectuals. It was created in order to promote the Bulgarian national claims and positions. Its main task is to form public opinion for the protection of Bulgarian minorities abroad, as well as to promote the idea of a peaceful revision of the 1919 Neuilly Peace Treaty. The Union conducts numerous initiatives – publishes magazines and individual books, organizes protests, maintains contacts with scientists and intellectuals abroad. The establishment of the organization is an example of how notions and concepts on the national question are formed in Bulgarian society. The article examines the context in which appears the idea of a common organization of scientists, journalists and writers, the situation in Bulgarian society, created as a result of the catastrophe in the First World War and the heavy peace treaty imposed on the country. Emphasis is placed on the efforts of various public circles, as well as on the initiatives of individuals to establish the organization “Otec Paisii”.
