Summary/Abstract: The paper examines the COVID-19 crisis and its intersections with national security, through the lens of its impact and consequences, as well as of what the security sector can do to alleviate it and how it should treat the remaining concerns. As a former intelligence practitioner, I was particularly interested in an empirical approach to how states and international organizations prioritized the health crisis, when faced with a difficult international security situation, too, whereas tension escalation tended to be, at least for a while, muted, but not erased by COVID.
