Summary/Abstract: The first doctoral dissertation in philosophy defended in Romania in 1905 was at first extensively criticized for its “metaphysical leap”, then almost totally neglected by the local historians of philosophy. Moreover, the young author’s arguments were often misunderstood by critics and tagged as anti-science. In the following paper, I will comment on the author’s intentions and compare his version of mind–body parallelism with that conveyed in some of the 19th century scientific works.
