Summary/Abstract: Contemporary Central Asia is a Post-Soviet space where transformation processes have a very specific nature. This specific nature includes mentality, political consciousness, and social memory, which includes peculiarities of ethnic memory. However, all these factors have determined the problem of identity. The process of identity is determined in two ways. The first way - the growth of national self-consciousness promotes a self-revival of traditional cultural values. The second way - the process of globalization stimulates the penetration and absolutization of universal values. The most urgent problem for the sovereignty of Kyrgyzstan is defining Kyrgyz national identity. The problem of national identity lies in the capability of a nation to adapt to global changes, including, ethnicity, and multicultural society. Personal identity manifests the unity of ethnic and civic criteria. National identity can be reflected in its three aspects: cultural, political and language identity.
