Precedent texts and their application in teaching Serbian as a foreign language

Summary/Abstract: This study focuses on precedent phenomena from national films lines, TV series and video clips. This phenomenon has been thoroughly described by Russian researchers, hence this study has relied upon the research papers which analyze precedent phenomena in practical use in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The core of this research are the surveys which collected 25 lines from Serbian native speakers. This research paper analyzes the lines, their specific interpretation and practical usage in everyday conversations. The aim of this paper is to study their significance and practical usage in Serbian as a foreign language. Introducing lingua-cultural units in foreign language teaching, what precedent texts actually are, is an approach which enables the student’s better insight into specific cultural entities reflected in a language he is learning.
