Summary/Abstract: The paper presents statistical data about the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina under Ottoman rule relating to the 1851/52 census. Some figures were published by the Prussian consul in Sarajevo, Otto Blau, in a series of articles in the 19th century. In Otto Blau’s personal file record, kept at the Political Archives of the German Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, we found original manuscripts written and used by the Prussian diplomat for the research and completion of printed articles. The manuscripts contain unpublished data as well: estimation of share of the Catholic population in Bosnian sanjaks/kaymakamluks and a complete, never published dataset on Herzegovina (Mostar sanjak/kaymakamluk).
