Summary/Abstract: In this article, the effect of othering policies on Kyrgyz folklore in the context of identity construction that the Soviet Union implemented in the construction of a new state and human model is discussed. Since the establishment of the USSR, social, economic and cultural policies have been followed to build a new human type. Within the framework of these policies, the Soviet government establishes a powerful propaganda mechanism to spread the socialist identity components to the masses. Within this propaganda mechanism, it tries to provide the opposition between us and the other by making use of folklore products that shape the collective memories of societies. It is possible to see the manifestations of the policy of othering in the folklore products created in Soviet Kyrgyzstan. In this period, the Soviet folklore understanding, which was based on an ideological basis, and the emphasis on the others in folklore products of various genres produced under the serious control of the regime is quite evident. This article will examine the relationship between the policy of othering applied towards internal enemies and folklore in Kyrgyzstan during the Soviet Union period.
