Summary/Abstract: Shamanism can be considered as a small universe of belief, culture and living style established by Turkic communities in Central-Asia, in long historic period. This universe is constructed on fundamental elements such as sky-god belief, nature cult and animal mother. They form meaning and function codes of symbols taking place on material and spiritual culture products. All cultural representations and structures are symbolic. Especially, cultural elements are established on important functions forming common living style of the community. When analyzing meanings and codes of symbol structures, to take a look at mainly their functional sides is needed. Function of a symbol taking place on material or spiritual cultural products comes out from myth, story, behavior, belief or ritual forming concerned symbol. To understand a cultural symbol, firstly to take a look at its social functions of basic cultural elements forming that symbol, and then to understand which function of those cultural elements is satisfied by concerned symbol are needed. It can be said that functional side of a symbol defines its both symbolic side and its meaning codes. This study aims to form a perspective starting from functional duties of Shaman symbolic elements and arriving at their meaning codes.
