A survey: What are Times of Culture?

Summary/Abstract: We are currently dealing with both the twilight of culture and the beginning of culture as in the famous saying: ‘the king is dead, long live the king’. Due to the very broad spectrum of possibilities arising from the Internet, a new culture is unfolding - culture in virtual reality … Times of culture are subject to individual perception. They may include a beautiful moment of “anticipating an event of words, images and sounds”, a time that makes somebody happy because it leads to fulfilment by enabling a real bond between a person and the world, a time when one can finally say with childlike joy “what exists is good”, a time of culture that pleasingly coincides with a time for nature … “a time of savouring the beginning” … These points of view focus on the question “what are cultural times?” The forthcoming issues of Czas Kultury [Cultural Times] will include more such pronouncements …
