Summary/Abstract: The situation of people with disabilities, including people with hearing impairment, throughout the history of mankind has been extremely difficult due to the marking of their possibilities through the prism of the consequences of disability and the legal regulation of the rights of people with disabilities. Currently, when it comes to the rights of such people, we are dealing with their formal regulation. Adopted by the United Nations in 2006, the “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities” is the document which brought people with disabilities the rights accepted by the international community, as well as the respect of such rights by the governments of countries that have signed and ratified the Convention. The Polish government signed the Convention in 2006 and ratified it in 2012. Unfortunately, the rights of people with disabilities included in the Convention are not always properly respected, hence the article presents the opinion of the community of people with hearing disabilities on the given subject and proposals for actions to implement the provisions of the Convention.
