Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of representative surveys of small family enterprises in Poland interpreted in terms of used succession strategies. There were used the results of research conducted by the team: L. Sułkowski, A. Kowalewska, J. Szut, B. Lewandowska, M. Kwiatkowska, A. Marjański for thePolish Agency for Enterprise Development. The creation and promotion of knowledge about the methods of succession can contribute to the support of a lot of family businesses in Poland. Good practices that should be spread among family businesses are: rethinking of succession scenarios, preparing a plan of succession and the preparation and education for the potential successor to take business over.
