Summary/Abstract: The functioning of the supply chain depends on a comprehensive and harmonized treatment of all activities necessary to ensure the proper flow of goods from the point of origin to the point of consumption, from the sender to the recipient. An indispensable element in this flow of goods is transport, which participates in individual stages of the flow. It acts as a link, a factor that binds together individual enterprises cooperating within one supply chain. Among all the services offered by logistics operators, transport is the most important factor for many recipients of logistics services, who see in the transfer of this process the possibility of significant cost reductions as well as achieving the expected results. There is a bond of dependence and mutual relations between the companies operating in the supply chain. The strength of positive ties is called coherence, which is one of the constructive elements of the supply chain. Coherent supply chains contribute to better coordination of activities, but it should be remembered that the integration and cohesion of the supply chain also places high demands on logistics service providers, who play an important role in its operation, also in the area of intelligent transport systems.
