Summary/Abstract: The article contains an analysis the role of fairy tale in the contemporary process of raising children. It presents short characteristics of the concepts very important in this context, i.e. bibliotherapy and fairy tale therapy. Bibliotherapy is understood as dynamic therapeutic interaction focused on support, development or help. Fairy tale therapy is defined as a form of therapy using specific literary text – fairy tale, and its main task is to help. The article discusses in detail the types of therapeutic fairy tales: relaxation fairy tales, psycho-educational fairy tales and psychotherapeutic fairy tales. Skillful use of the potential of fairy tale therapy creates new opportunities and possibilities for upbringing and education especially of young children. The author of the article also draws attention to the role of the organization of fairy tale therapy and the fairy tale therapist himself for effective therapy.
