Summary/Abstract: In the last few decades, pedagogical translation was gradually reintegrated into the classroom as a means of facilitating foreign language learning. Consequently, it has been increasingly accepted as a beneficial learning practice. Particular attention has been given to the purpose of translatiion in language teaching and to its role as a form of language which is essentially communicative. The paper considers the reconceptualization and revitalization of translation as a pedagogical tool and addresses its ability to adapt and enable the acquisition of communicative competence in a foreign language. Furthermore, it explores translation as a means (process-oriented) and as an end (product-oriented), in a realistic learner-centered instruction.
