Summary/Abstract: Rhédei Zsuzsánna, Wesselényi Kata and Bethlen Zsuzsánna are three representants of the XVIIIth century aristocracy. They are closely related not only by their passion for books, but also by familly connections. Rhédei Zsuzsánna (1716-171) was interested in books, but only her close friends knew about her passion. She used to buy the books as soon as they were published; most of them were religious books, some of them were dealing with more practical subjects, such as medicine, children education etc. Her collection was inherited by her daughter, Wesselényi Kata. Wesselényi Kata (1735-1788) founded an impressive library of more than 200 books, on various domains: history, medicine, literature, law etc. She considered that her niece’ s love for books was a guarantee for taking care of her collection, and she decided to offer it to Bethlen Zsuzsánna. Those books were finally included in Teleki Library. Bethlen Zsuzsánna (1754-1797) inherited her aunt collection and added it to her husband’ s library. Her collection was quite large, containing about 1200 books. Most of them were religious, and only few of them were dealing with some other subjects, such as agriculture, administrative aspects, medicine etc. All those books are today part of Teleki-Bolyai Library.
