Summary/Abstract: Recently, several motions concerning racist undermeaning of well-known Czech bedtime stories or fairy tales, i.a. Kocour Mikeš or Včelí medvídci, have occured and this topic has become not only subject to discussion by general public, but also subject to judicial/ expert review. This contribution therefore on one hand focuses on a brief analysis of the incriminating passages from selected fairy tales/bedtime stories, on the other hand it addresses the situations for which children’s heroes appeared in the center of media’s attention. The issue of political correctness is also not left aside, especially in relation to traditional works, by which generations of children were falling asleep.
