Summary/Abstract: Many specialists in Romanian bibliotheconomy have strived in time to adjust to developing tendencies in information and documentation sciences, keeping up with all news in these fields, both in the national and international area. Constanța Dumitrășconiu worked in the cataloging department of the Central University Library „Carol I” in Bucharest and she made clear her points of view as well as she designed the methodology necessatry to implement, in all Romanian libraries, new and uniform techniques. She also believes that what we need is a new approach in the activity of the librarians in the cataloging departments. Constanța Dumitrășconiu permanently states that it is compulsory a continuous training of this professional category since we are facing a digital revolution which determines significant changes in information and comuunication techniques, this including the public and university libraries, thus affecting the professional future of the cataloging librarians as well as the online catalogues.
