Summary/Abstract: Cerebral palsy is a child specific disease having a strong stressful impact on the child and family. Rehabilitation is a difficult process, requiring numerous hospitalizations in mental healthcare clinics. Mothers of children diagnosed with cerebral palsy are exposed to prolonged distress, which is often associated with anger. This study aims to highlight how mothers of children with cerebral palsy can be treated by cognitive-behavioral psychotherapeutic means. The results indicate the effectiveness of the REBT-type intervention in ameliorating the distress and anger of mothers attending their hospitalized children with cerebral palsy.
