Summary/Abstract: The translation of Ovid’s Heroides XII in Polish is presented with a short introduction and commentary, which investigate the rich mythological tradition and poet’s originality as well. Ovid’s innovation in elaborating the old myth is especially evident in depicting Medea’s personality like a suffering woman, when her supernatural magical force is only alluded to.
