Summary/Abstract: The evolution of one language depends upon the evolution of communication necessities of the group which uses it. This specific evolution is being situated in a tight relationship of dependency with the social, economical and intellectual evolution of the group. The research area belongs to the sub-dialect from Maramureş, area in which we find Hungarian, Ukrainian and German speakers besides the ones that speak Romanian. The fact that this subdialect has an open character can be ascertained because of the contact on long terms between Romanian and Hungarian speakers from this area, contact that resulted into a specific characteristic of the idiom. This opening towards new elements has favoured the insertion of some Latin neologisms either in a direct or indirect way, by the instrumentality of the Hungarian or German language. Along the insertion of foreign terms, the lexis of the sub-dialect from Maramureş registers modifications or evolutions of meaning, either by using the analogy with correspondent words from other languages or by means of the internal evolution of the idiom.
