Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to determine the main principles of the simulacrum of theoretical thinking on the novel during the period of maximum expansion of socialist realism. The theory of the art work had become similar with ideology. For this reason, the theory of the novel is confined to just a few principles quoted by almost all the so-called theorists, principles which were held to correspond to the universals of the art of the novel, but were actually setting the novel very far from art, as they proclaimed the “aesthetics” of socialist realism. This paper discusses the views on the novel proposed by such writers and critics as Mihail Sadoveanu, N. Moraru, Silvian Iosifescu, Paul Georgescu, Dumitru Micu, Marin Preda, and Lucian Raicu.
