Summary/Abstract: The article addresses the various basic theses contained in the now classic 1986 book by Ulrich Beck. Beck's reflections on the production of risks, their nature and distribution in society are recalled by Jan Keller in connection with the current coronavirus pandemic. He identifies a number of unpleasant similarities between Beck's analysis and the contemporary situation. The conclusion of the article recalls Beck's hope that people will learn from recurring tragedies.
