Aspects regarding the role of the army in ensuring human security

Summary/Abstract: Starting from the premise that humanity is still governed by primary instincts and the idea of realism in international relations still prevails on the stage of international politics, the role of military forces in mitigating and removing dangers and protecting the individual becomes increasingly substantial. There are contradictory views on the role of the armed forces in ensuring human security, as some researchers support this approach and others do not, but both categories may agree on the need to protect civilians during armed conflict. Finally, and as a central objective, this article seeks to highlight the role that military forces play and the approach to civilian protection, through stability, peace, peacekeeping and humanitarian interventions in general.
