Money and the black market in the prison camps for foreigners of the Estonian SSR. 1945–1949.

Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to money circulation and the black market in the prison camps for foreigners on the territory of the Estonian SSR in 1945–1949. Basing on archival material, author reveals the story of the prisoners’ day-to-day life, shows some specific traits of prison camp life, and proves that money played a stimulant role in the use of prisoners’ labour by the Soviet side.
