Summary/Abstract: The article contains new findings about the developments in Bulgarian iconography at the end of the 19th century. Based on in-depth analysis of Jerusalemite icon kept in Samokov History Museum’s repository, the article defends the hypothesis that this type of icons, which previously were brought to Bulgaria only by pilgrims to the Holy Land, had already been painted by Bulgarian masters in the late 19th century. The text examines the style, scenes depiction, materials and the technologies of the recovered Jerusalemite icon. In addition, the article compares the iconographic guidelines from the heremia of Ditcho Zograph and of Zahari Petrovich. Finally, the discovered artifact is described as belonging to the Bulgarian cultural heritage.
