Summary/Abstract: The economic crisis presently affecting the global economy is not the first of the kind. 80 years ago the world wide economy was in a very similar way shocked by the Big Crash, which origins could have been easily traced in the United States of America. By and large, back then, the crisis affected also the Romanian economy. Actually, if we were to make a comparison, some similarities can be noticed: both events originate in the USA, they prevailed over the whole world, and come after a period of visible economical growth. Romania from between the two World Wars went back into a state of economical autarchy characteristic actually for The Middle Ages. Concerning the crisis nowadays, the weight it will carry on Romania’s economical situation and on Romanian society can scarcely be properly evaluated. In the end, for avoiding the struggle Romania had to endure in the 30`s, both the authorities and mass-media have to assure a proper information respective to the current situation.
