Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the etymological analysis of toponyms (mainly hydronyms) of old Baltic origin, which are localized near the Upper Volga lakes and to the west of them – up to the sources of the Pola and Western Dvina rivers. In this microregion, which is a square of territory with sides of approximately 60 km, about 60 toponymic baltisms have been discovered and analyzed. The listed baltisms are the names of rivers, lakes, villages and localities.
