Behavioural addictions and the role of dopamine

Summary/Abstract: The development of technology brings intofocus a new way to overstimulate the brain reward system, which in turn has led to the rise in number of cases of technology addiction. Technology addiction represent the extreme, abnormal use of technological items, such as mobile devices, internet or videogames and to fully understand this new type of addiction, a good understanding of the concept of behavioural addiction is needed. Thus, in this paper, we want to underline the role of dopamine in the complex mechanism which determine this behavioural addiction.
