Summary/Abstract: The protection of children against abuse and neglect is enshrined in international conventions and national laws. Romania has had a governmental political commitment focused on investing in children’s education through physical education. Government investment policy is conditioned by the nation’s health, the level of obesity and the costs associated with health care, a sedentary lifestyle and dropout rates. The effects of physical activity, cognitive functioning, the development of positive psychosocial qualities, increased levels of participation and training are well monitored. We will try to exclude destructive behaviour and promote an active lifestyle for maintaining health, counteracting antisocial behaviours and promoting social inclusion. The government’s investment commitment resonates in this context by trying to reconcile the historical opposition between physical education and sport in partnership approaches on children’s rights.
