Summary/Abstract: Interest in national culture and increased mobility of the population stimulate the development of domestic tourism in our country. The centers of regional tourist activity are objects of historical and cultural heritage as monuments of national culture, which contribute to the active emergence of new Museum complexes and Museum infrastructure in the surrounding area of the monument and its historical environment. The majority of new Museum spaces existing in their historical environment in Russia have been formed over the last two decades and mainly have a spontaneous nature of construction and architecture, which often leads to a disturbance of the visual and aesthetic qualities of the cultural heritage objects themselves. In this regard, along with the visual and spatial organization, the architect faces the question of architectural and planning interaction between the architecture of the museum building and its surrounding historical environment, as well as the need to maintain the ensemble integrity of the object of historical and cultural heritage. The article discusses examples from world and Russian architectural practice, provides an analysis of the formation of modern museum complexes in the historical environment containing objects of cultural heritage. The authors present a variety of architectural and artistic images and various approaches to the organization of museum space, both in the interior and in the exterior, emphasizing the role and significance of the integrated design of the museum complex in the historical and architectural ensemble.
