Summary/Abstract: Business success is a concept pursued by all economic operators and / their stakeholders, since business success is the main goal of the company's existence and business. A number of financial and non-financial indicators have been developed for the purpose of measuring, evaluating and judging performance. Among them, they are still dominated by the so-called accounting indicators that are focused on analysing the financial consequences of business decisions. But more and more often, we are aware that the study of performance is a broader concept, which also requires the researchers to take into account the wider context of the environment in which the company operates. The latter is especially important for the company's management, which can respond in a timely manner to the challenges of the environment, thus creating economic value for its owners. Today, it is no longer enough for the company to be competitive in the retail market, but it must also be competitive in the capital market. In case that the company does not meet the requirements of the owners as the most important stakeholders of the company, they will invest their capital in another company. In the paper, which aims to define success and compare the performance of two sister companies in different countries, we continue to present theoretical background. In the empirical part, with the help of accounting indicators, we analyse the business of two companies. The calculated indicators will be placed in the context of the economic environment in which the companies operate.
