Summary/Abstract: After analysing the Romanian press and various memoirs from the spring and summer of the tragic year of 1941, it is evident that almost all people realized that a war will likely follow between Germany and Soviet Russia. Under this conditions, General Ion Antonescu tried to adopt a number of measures destined to gain the sympathy of the people in general and of the peasants in particular.
