Summary/Abstract: The article is a sequel to the writer’s book published in 2016, Emisariusze Freuda. Transfer kulturowy psychoanalizy do polskich sfer inteligenckich przed drugą wojną światową [Freud’s emissaries, Cultural transfer of psychoanalysis to Polish intellectual circles before WWII]. Based on materials found during an extensive research carried out in the United States, the author presents the complicated fact of psychoanalysis after World War II, focusing on the discord between the official narrative about the U.S successes of Freud’s disciples who escaped from Central Europe and the story of trauma, alienation and uprooting emerging from the historical records.
