Summary/Abstract: Straipsnyje rašoma apie akademinio jaunimo požiūrį į iššūkius tradicinei šeimai, per kurią visuomenė atsinaujina, pratęsia savo egzistenciją, kurioje asmuo įgyja pasaulėžiūros pamatus ir pažįsta Esaties priežastį – Dievą. Jaunimas įsitikinęs, kad nors dalies šiuolaikinių šeimų gyvenimas deformuotas, tradicinė šeima turi stiprėti ir atlikti žmogaus dvasinio, dorovinio auklėjimo funkciją. Family is a small social group, members of which are related by special relationship. Members of a family support each other and create the atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust. Manifold security that human nature desires is guaranteed in a family. In it a human realizes one’s value, learns to understand the others as well as learns self-respect, and gains communication skills. Therefore, one prepares for communication in a bigger social group – nation, society. In a family a human learns the rhythm of life, altruism, tolerance. Family is a school of life that teaches to keep spiritual balance, inner harmony, gives fundaments of the world view, and helps to spread physical and spiritual powers. A family helps to actualize a natural need for communication. It is a place which shows a human the way to values – transcendental, anthropocentric, and sociocentric. A man and a woman realize the functions of their mission in a family. Therefore, life in a family which is harmonious, members of which respect and love each other and foster each others value, know the reason of Being – God, is happiness. Society renews with the help of a family and extends its existence. Moral spiritual education has always been a significant function of a family. The results of empirical research revealed the fact that youth has a traditional attitude (o very close to it) to a family, which has the following features: a family consists of parents and children that take care of each other; a family is an official union of a man and a woman who have a common aim to grow up children, to live in harmony, to love each other, to help each other in any situation. The other group of students interprets a family as an individual, exclusive educational institution, the smallest social group of a society.
