Summary/Abstract: The scientific article promotes a unique hypothesis, according to which the turmoil and consolidation of the “ethnic renaissance” in the former USSR and socialist countries, is explained by changing the identity paradigm. However, the process of claiming ethnic genesis against the slogan “Soviet people” resulted in large-scale ideational-aesthetic mutations through which ethnocultural universes that were under-valorized in their philosophical and artistic singularity competed. During the persevering initiation into the announced scientific issue, a disastrous situation was found in both compartments: that of the identity dimension of art and that of the sociocultural share of the “ethnic renaissance”. The urgent need to demonstrate the consubstantiality of both phenomena required the development of an effective strategy for contextualizing the object of study: both horizontally (history, philosophy of the twentieth century, anthropology, psychology, world cinema) and vertically (philosophy of Romanian culture, Eastern European film schools, exponential film discourses from the former Soviet republics). The brief outlining of the enunciated contexts is succeeded by the selection and hierarchy of mytho-genetic complexes, archetypes, symbols, but also the obsessions of the “ancestral soul”.
