Summary/Abstract: The article evokes memories from the author’s childhood, related to winter, snow, skating, ice hockey. In his career, Mihai Flamaropol, mentioned in the article, alternated football and hockey during interwar period. He played and coached exceptional figures in Romanian hockey and football. In ice hockey there are many elements of grace and elegance specific to figure skating. Many generations of hockey players, athletes and performance coaches have grown up on the “August 23” skating rink in Bucharest. Among them is Doru Tureanu. The skating rink of so many generations of children from the once modest neighborhoods of Bucharest is gone. All that remains are the ruins of the abandoned construction of a promised new ice rink.
