Summary/Abstract: Religion’s freedom is a fundamental human freedom that belongs to the first generation of human rights. Its criminal law protection is one of the guarantees for its normal application. Compositions of crimes against freedom of religion are present in all Bulgarian criminal laws from 1896 up to present days. The importance of religion’s freedom in the catalogue of constitutional rights is the basis on which assessments are defined as crimes against freedom of religion and what penalties should be implemented for them. The object of crimes against religion’s freedom are the social relations which assure the normal exercise of this freedom.The system of crimes includes real and immaterial ones against religion’s freedom.Religion’s freedom is a fundamental human freedom that belongs to the first generation of human rights.
