Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the analysis of "Puszcza jodłowa" (“Fir Forest”) by Stefan Żeromski in the light of nature writing. Nature had a huge impact on Żeromski’s life and work. "Puszcza jodłowa" is the work in which the writer refers to places of his youth (especially the Świętokrzyskie Mountains). Żeromski is aware of the complex system of connections between the biological, mineral and human world. It is worth emphasizing that in "Puszcza jodłowa" the world of nature and people intertwine with history. Despite the current anthropocentrism, the writer’s ecological sensitivity is revealed in the postulate to protect the forest and in his close relationship with nature.
