The Competence Approach in Education

Summary/Abstract: In this article, the competence approach is considered fundamental to modern educational philosophy. It is accepted as part of the reforms in education. The concepts of ‘competence’ and ‘competences’ are analysed. Separate opinions of the author are given on these concepts. The types of competences/competencies are defined according to individual views and ideas of the author. Special attention is paid to the professional competence of the teacher.
