Summary/Abstract: The way the Bulgarian literature has developed lately shows that the first decade of our century stays under the auspices of the novel. Although numerous short stories have also been published, the impact of the novel is more than obvious. Short prose hasn’t yet earned the acknowledgement it deserves. Young prose writers are rather inopportune, incisive, and coherent in their writing. The XXI century struggles for the exoneration of the auctorial ego, without masks or fictional characters. Written texts are rather a diary of experienced facts, kept with a view to better self-knowledge. These prose writers sensuously dwell on everyday life, and in-house reality significantly contributes to the foundations of the prose universe. They plead discreetly for social normality as well as for vital stakes within the family life universe.
