Summary/Abstract: Throughout the Medieval Times, in Bulgaria, the popular literature enjoyed a large spreading. The end of the 16th century is marked by the appearance of the Damaskins, popular writings that were named after their author Damaskin Studit. The first translations on Bulgaria’s territory are made in the 16th century and contain exclusively the singings of Damaskin Studit. In time, the Damaskines become collections with a mixed character, comprising both older works and new, original texts, thoughts and reflections of the people about life, daily activities, death. The Damaskines represent an important link in the evolution of medieval literature.
