Summary/Abstract: The author of the present treatise deals with the role of foreign and domestic philology in the reception of literature in relation to the inventive role of Sergey Nikolsky ,a Russian specialist in Czech literature, prevalently in the work of Karel Čapek and Jaroslav Hašek. The author accentutes the importance of his choice of the Czechauthors he occupied himself with in accordance with their leading position in worldliterature and demonstrates Karel Čapek as a visionary or, as he calls him, “an analystof threats and disasters” Čapek confirms by nearly all his prose and dramatic worksprobably except some of his detective stories or a novel trilogy, though even theyrepresent threats and catastrophes, but rather hidden ones. In the end, the author ofthe present treatise quotes a short passage from the explicit of Čapek’s novel Warwith the Newts (1935–36).
