Summary/Abstract: In this paper, in which we present some aspects of Slovak culture as marked by the tradition which was established after the activity and presence of the two missionaries – Constantine the Philosopher – Cyril (863-869) and Methodius (863-885) – on the territory of current Slovakia, we wish to underline the importance of these two personalities of European culture. Beginning with the emancipation of Slovak ethnicity from the stage of a people to the stage of a nation, which started in the seventeenth century, the two names become landmarks, and a tradition establishes itself, becoming a source for the ideas of Slovak art and literature.
