Summary/Abstract: The Ottoman Empire faced many social and economic problems with the effect of the wars lost since the middle of the XVIII. century. These problems were also clearly observed in Trabzon Province. In this study, which deals with the banditry incidents that occurred as an extension of these social and economic problems in Trabzon and its environs, it was focused on the names that came to the fore in the banditry events that took place in the last quarter of the XIX. century and the beginning of the XX. century. Among the events examined in line with the archive documents, it is tried to explain what are the banditry activities that negatively affect the public order in the region, how the bandits act individually or massively during these events, and what measures the state take to arrest the bandits. In this study, whether the individuals who spread fear in the region as famous bandit chiefs reside within the borders of Trabzon Province or in another province, the effect of the geographical structure on the escape and hiding of bandits, whether the banditry activities in the province show an increase in the date range discussed, and if there is an increase, the reasons for this are discussed. Another aspect that the study focuses on is questioning whether the bandits are supported by the residents or administrators in the region.
