Summary/Abstract: This paper is a preliminary report of the latest results of multidisciplinary research carried out on the line known as the limes Transalutanus. The updated information on these fortifications has been compiled in a manner similar to the reports regularly published in the volumes of international congresses dealing with the study of Roman frontiers. More than two decades ago, the latest summary reports were published in the volume of the International Congress of Roman Frontiers in Zalău in 1997. The purpose of this report is to present the latest data obtained in the framework of the National LIMES Programme. The research has been concentrated on the fortifications and adjacent areas. The study carried out attempts to show the value of these sites with a view to their sustainable protection and enhancement through inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
