Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to analyze how the world of entertainment changes depending on the particularities of the times. Socio-economic factors as well as political influences change the perception of writers, each offering a different perspective on the subject. Starting from the "black plays" - Antigone (1941) and Medea (1946) - by the French playwright Jean Anouilh, I articulated my approach in two stages: first I identified the sources of inspiration and the context in which the plays were written, in order to analyze the reception of the tragic heroine in antiquity compared to the modern era. In the first stage I analyzed the socio-political contexts in which the works were written, starting from the tragedies of Sophocles and Euripides and continuing with Anouilh. I also looked at the status of women in antiquity and in modern times to see people's perceptions of their role in society. I continued the approach with the differences in the reception of the myth of Antigone and Medea in different eras and I took into account the textual means and the specific elements of the stage representations. In the end, I wanted to show that the world of entertainment is constantly changing, and the influences of society highlight the needs and aspirations of contemporaries.
