Summary/Abstract: This paper aims to investigate the mythical thinking of Victor Eftimiu and Petru Dumitriu and to present the connection between mythical thinking and the dramatic text, but also the way in which the mythical is reflected in the reality of the time. Starting from the paper Atrizii by Victor Eftimiu, published in 1939 and the tragedy Prelude to Electra by Petru Dumitriu published in 1945, I structured my approach in two stages: first I identified the common elements of the two works, respectively the myth of atrizi, to then present the impact that mythical thinking has had on modern society. In the first stage we analyzed the way in which the myth was transposed in the works of the two playwrights, identifying the central theme - the curse of the race, as well as the sub-themes that led to its formation - conspiracy, revenge and murder. Taking as a reference the profile of the authors, the socio-political situation of the time, as well as the inclination for certain ancient writers, we followed the difference in interpretation of the myth, each playwright keeping the mythical substance in their own style. I continued the approach with the study of the preference for female or male characters of Romanian playwrights and I followed the actions of the characters highlighting their significance, as well as the impact they had on society at that time. We also considered finding the correspondences at the level of content and presenting the textual means encountered in dramatic texts, namely dialogue, monologue and stage directions. Finally, I wanted to show that theater is a direction conducive to illustrating the mythical motive, giving it a new dimension due to the filter of the personality that rethinks it. Therefore, we can say that the myth reflected in the theater explains a profound truth, culture has the ability to stay alive, lasting over generations.
