Summary/Abstract: The present research paper explores the concept of cultural competence and its place in the second-generation textbooks of the Algerian Middle School Education. The study is designed to gain insight into the development and the definition of this competence from the point of view of both linguists and didacticians. It then tries to examine its place in the various official documents of the Middle School Education (programs, accompanying documents and 3AMtextbooks). The researcher will interview middle school teachers of French regarding their classroom practices and perceptions, in addition to the importance of introducing the cultural competence to develop the skills of writing and speaking in the French language classroom.
