Summary/Abstract: The article presents a significant issue on the macroeconomic scale, which is economic cooperation between the world’s greatest powers, to which the European Union and Japan belong. The growing region of Asia with its current leader – Japan, is important for the EU countries. They strive to strengthen and expand this cooperation as well as attempt to sign strategic agreements. Economic cooperation is based on trade, and Japan seems to be a crucial partner in this respect. The article shows trade between the European Union and Japan. The paper also addressed the issue of talks, arrangements and finalization of work on the Economic Partnership Agreement between the EU and Japan. The aim of the study is also to indicate the EU’s possibilities to expand trade with that important partner in international relations.
